The tour was at just the correct pace for us and we were so relieved to find the town was very compact and there wasn’t too much walking and plenty of places to stop for little rests. And I could go on for pages about how wonderful the place is – going through the great gate and suddenly seeing the Stradun all in sunlight and all lovely colours took my breath away.

I took my mum and dad to Dubrovnik for their ruby wedding anniversary. To be honest I didn’t really even know where it is but it looked lovely at the travel agents and there was a good package. The agent booked the guided walking tour for us and it was fantastic. My dad got really interested in all the history and Stefan suggested a boat trip we could take round the walls so we could see them since my parents couldn’t climb up all these steps, it was like fairyland, the sea was so clear you could see the bottom, and he told us where mum could get a nice cup of tea and to go to Sesame for a nice dinner away from the crowds – introducing mum to grappa was quite fun. Thank you very much, we had a really great time.

Stjepan Zecevic is extremely well-informed and passionately interested in the history of his native city;… we got a real sense of a great medieval trading city under threat (and the relics of 1991 in the monastery did nothing to dispel the idea). He was sensitive to the fact that we needed longer to examine the quite exquisite and delicate work of the goldsmiths and was able to tell us where we could see this ancient trade still being done today. It was a most valuable two hours.

This was a fabulous experience. We joined this guided tour from our cruise liner because we didn’t want to pay a fortune to trail around in a mob of people following an inaudible rolled-up umbrella (that happened to us in Venice)…. This time we got it right. Took the shuttle bus, met Stefan Zacevic at the Pile Gate, which was a great landmark. He was charming and friendly, he really knew his stuff and he knew how to present it. And very obliging answering all these questions we kept chucking at him, stopping for the photo-shoots, and plenty of good jokes, which always helps. Really cheap per head with 6 of us, AND he told us where to go for a really good long sundowner afterwards. We’ll tell our friends that are planning a Europe vacation all about it (the tour, not the sundowner, but that too!)

Gave me a real sense of Dubrovnik as a maritime state. I joined up with some other singles to share the cost which was extraordinarily good value.
Thanks for all of that.

This is the best walking tour to do with a family because you are in a small group. We chose the shortest one,… which was quite long enough for the kids, though I must say Stepfan managed to keep them entertained the whole way. They loved the statue of St Blass holding the city in his hands, they liked the hands on the rails in the Rector’s Palace too – I thought they were gruesome! We spent the next day on the beach – thank you for recommending Sveti Yakov beach – wonderful swimming and all so clean – and then we went round the old city again, really knowing what to look for and where to eat and understanding more of the history.
Great holiday and you really helped.
