Split is the biggest town on the Croatian coast with rich Roman, Venetian and Austrian heritage: Diocletian’s Palace, Peristil (Roman temple), St. Duje belltower, Marijan lookout point, coastal promenade, Old town center and with new highway constructed half way untill Dubrovnik, it is reacheable in 2:45 h of driving

5. Sarajevo Day trip
Sarajevo is Capital of Bosnia, 270Km/160 miles from Dubrovnik with Ottoman turskish Center and Bazaar, ground zero of World War 1 (prinz Franz Ferdinand was assasinated in Sarajevo in 1914). home of the winter Olympics 1984, under siege and damaged in 1992-1995 war, a lot of which can be seen today. Drive from Dubrovnik takes about 4 hours 15 mins
